Sonoma County Wedding Venues I Love and How I Design for Them

Most couples choose their Sonoma County wedding venue before they choose their florist, and that order makes complete sense. The venue sets the tone. The light, the land, the scale, and the feeling of the day all begin there. Floral design should respond to that setting, not override it.

I am a flower farmer and florist based in Sonoma County, and my work begins with place. Before I think about color palettes or flower recipes, I pay attention to the land itself. The way guests move through a space. Where the sun falls. Whether the setting asks for restraint, abundance, or something in between.

In this post, I am sharing two Sonoma County wedding venues I love deeply. They could not feel more different, yet both reward thoughtful, venue focused floral design. One is expansive and natural. The other is intimate and garden forward. Each allows flowers to feel like they truly belong.

Sonoma County Wedding Venue | Triple S Ranch Napa: A Private Village on a Hilltop

I am always drawn to land first. Before the buildings, before the details, before the logistics. Triple S Ranch Napa grabbed me immediately because it felt familiar in my bones. I grew up surrounded by rolling hills, walnut trees, and oaks, and there is something about wide open, natural land that makes me feel at home. This place feels vast in the best way. Quiet. Grounded. Unforced.

Saying vows under the most beautiful walnut tree.

As a flower farmer and florist, that might sound surprising. You would expect me to gravitate toward English gardens and perfectly manicured venues, and I do love those spaces. But what I truly love is bringing fresh, seasonal, local flowers into a natural landscape and letting them speak the way wild meadows do in nature. I love working with what the season naturally offers and using flowers to accentuate the beauty that is already there. Triple S Ranch allows the land to lead, and that philosophy mirrors how I farm and how I design.

Triple S Ranch began as a Spanish land grant in the 1800s and later became a family resort in 1958, making it the oldest operating resort in Napa Valley. When the current owners purchased the property in 2012, they transformed it using architectural artifacts collected from around the world. The result feels like a small hilltop village in France, but one that still deeply belongs to Northern California.

The ranch sits on a west facing ridge surrounded by old growth redwood, walnut, live oak, and Douglas fir trees. From here, the sunsets feel endless and expansive, the kind that slow everything down. And while the setting feels wonderfully remote, you are only 4 miles from Calistoga, which keeps things convenient for guests while still giving the full destination wedding glow.

Triple S Ranch is rented exclusively, giving couples their own private resort for a full wedding weekend. Up to 60 guests can stay onsite in two historic Victorian homes and 14 chic cabins, turning the celebration into a shared experience rather than a single day. Friday rehearsal dinner, Saturday ceremony and reception, Sunday brunch. The pace here feels natural and unrushed.

The ceremony site sits beneath a massive 175 year old black walnut tree, with the reception unfolding in the event barn and surrounding stone patios. The amenities are generous without being showy. A pool, a salt water infinity hot tub, a gym, a commercial kitchen, an outdoor pizza oven and Argentine BBQ, 12 private acres to explore, and a wine cellar for late night gatherings.

Tables and chairs are provided for up to 150 guests, with capacity for events up to 200. Couples are free to choose their own food and alcohol, which opens the door to deeply personal menus and meaningful wine selections. In house planning and a trusted list of planners help ensure the weekend flows with ease.

Triple S Ranch hosts a limited number of events each year. In season weekend rates start at $59K for exclusive use of the entire estate, including lodging for 60 guests.

I have had the joy of designing here, including Fern’s Vogue featured wedding, one of the most meaningful days I have ever been part of. The vows brought many of us to tears, the flowers glowed in the evening light, and the land itself felt like an active participant in the day. Triple S Ranch does not overwhelm. It holds.

If you are getting married at Triple S Ranch Napa and want florals that work with the land rather than compete with it, I would love to talk.

Sonoma County Wedding Venue | Vine Hill House: A Garden That Invites You In

If Triple S Ranch speaks to my love of wide open land, Vine Hill House speaks to my love of gardens. I am endlessly drawn to spaces that feel elegant without being pretentious. Even on the hottest Sonoma County days, the shade, greenery, and thoughtful layout soften the heat and invite people to linger.

The estate sits within the O’Connell Vineyards and apple orchards in the Russian River Valley, land that has been owned and cared for by the same family since the 1930s. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines roll through the property alongside heirloom organic apple orchards, and the feeling here is intentional and deeply rooted. Nothing feels staged. It simply works.

I especially enjoy working at Vine Hill House because of Dan O’Connell. He is hands on, thoughtful, and deeply committed to creating the best possible experience for each couple. He focuses on the small details that truly matter. How guests move through the space. Where they gather. How the day unfolds naturally. That care is felt in every event.

The reception area looks out over a protected watershed, with views stretching across the Santa Rosa Valley toward Mount St. Helena and the Coastal Range beyond. Even for those of us who live and work here, the view can still take your breath away.

The gardens are a mix of manicured and natural. Spacious lawns, flower gardens, and a grove of Douglas firs, redwoods, and oaks create a setting that feels romantic, precious, and calm. It is beautiful in that very Northern California way that does not need explanation.

Vine Hill House is available from April through November and offers a range of event styles, from intimate weekday celebrations to full wedding packages. The estate includes use of the guest house on event days, on site coordination, rehearsal management when a ceremony is planned, and personal assistance that quietly takes care of countless details couples should not have to think about.

Tables, chairs, lighting, a dance floor, patio heaters, wine barrels, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen are all part of the experience. Parking and accessibility are thoughtfully handled, and the property flows easily for guests of all ages.

Food and drink are a true extension of place here. A portion of the wine served comes from O’Connell Vineyards, and couples are encouraged to highlight Sonoma County producers throughout their menu. There are no corkage fees, and caterers often incorporate estate grown grapes and apples when available.

Event fees start at $9,900 for Saturdays and holidays, $9,000 for Fridays and Sundays, and $8,500 for weekday events.

Vine Hill House is calm, grounded, and quietly beautiful. It is a venue that honors the land, the people, and the moment itself. For couples who want a wedding that feels authentic to Sonoma County, this place delivers that feeling with grace.

If you are planning a wedding at Vine Hill House and want flowers that feel elegant, seasonal, and completely at ease in the gardens, this is exactly the work I love to do.

Some venues ask for wide open gestures. Others call for quiet refinement. The most meaningful floral design listens closely to that distinction.

Whether you are drawn to vast natural landscapes or manicured gardens, choosing a florist who understands how to design in conversation with your venue matters. Flowers should feel inevitable in their setting, as if they could not exist anywhere else.
